In 1980, OPTEX developed and commercialized the world’s first automatic door sensor using far-infrared ray technology which was mainly used for military purposes at the time.

Since then, OPTEX has developed safer, more comfortable and eco-friendly automatic door sensors for sliding doors and swing doors with advanced sensing technology.

OPTEX’s sensors are being used in various buildings such as commercial facilities, office buildings, airports, government facilities all over the world

Feature of OPTEX automatic door sensors

Since OPTEX is widely selling to countries all over the world,
we provide our products comply with the laws / official standards of each country and resistant to environmental conditions, etc..
We always focus on manufacturing products that customers can use with peace of mind.

Less initial failure and longer life

OPTEX conducts more than 150 in-house product evaluation tests in order to achieve “reliability” that gives absolute value to all products and “performance” that meets customer requirements when we develop new products. Among them, we consider resistance to various conditions such as rain, temperature, ultraviolet rays, the impact of dropping, and continuous ON/OFF switching of switches from the component level.

These meticulous evaluation tests and high standards improve the quality of our sensors and are the key to reduce initial failures, and achieving a long product life.

(OPTEX performs inspection to all products in the manufacturing process.)

High safety

Our mission is to continue to provide safer and more comfortable door systems to all our customers. For this reason, we focus on discovering issues unique to the site while thoroughly understanding the usage environment and deriving solutions that are suitable for each environment.

For example, OPTEX’s unique technology “BLUEZONE” is one of the functions to prevent accidents from getting caught in the door.

This is a presence detection feature in the door threshold area (BLUEZONE area). If someone is standing right under the automatic door, leaving the door open helps prevent accidents from getting caught.

Recommended Sensors

Active Infrared Sliding Door Sensor
that achieves both high safety and cost performance

OA-FUNXION

The OA-FUNXION is a highly cost-effective sensor developed in response to market for achieving both safety and cost optimization. Active infrared technology is used for both door activation and improving safety which realizes a stable and wide detection area, full threshold safety with BLUEZONE presence detection.

Hybrid sensor provide safety around the door and through the threshold at the same time.

OAM-DUAL

The OAM- DUAL provides safety around the door and through the threshold with BLUEZONE function while the redundant microwave simultaneously ensure a comfortable opening is guaranteed at all times.

Active infrared door sensor with Built-in Touchless Switch that prevents unnecessary opening

AIR-SLIDE

The AIR-SLIDE offers a unique “spot” activation area that combines activation and safety function into one sensor. Putting your hand in front of the sticker on the door activate the dooor. It prevents unnecessary opening by installing AIR-SLIDE to the door facing a street with a lot of pedestrian traffic.

OM-105 / OM-106

Optex’s OM-105C and 106C microwave sensors are designed for maximum comfort in opening automatic doors. They provide swift detection for all door types, particularly high-speed entries. These sensors have an industrial design and easy installation.

Embedded sensor that does not ruin aesthetics

OA-72C / MIRAGE

OA-72C is specially designed for discreet ceiling installation and MIRAGE is designed for installation in the header of the door operator or as a built-in ceiling-mounted sensor. They are perfect for installing in areas where an attractive appearance.

Active infrared sensor to
improve swing door safety

OA-EDGE

The OPTEX OA-EDGE T enhances automatic swing door safety with Active Infrared triangulation technology. Its modular design allows for safety upgrades, meeting European regulation EN 16005 and gaining approval from TÜV, a leading German test organization.

Customer Voice

I impressed the stability of Active Infrared!

testimony
Customer: Automatic door installer in Asia Product: OPTEX OA-FUNXION

We switched to OA-FUNXION which is OPTEX’s active infrared sensor though we had dealt with combination sensor (Active infrared & Microwave) of another brand before.
This is because OA-FUNXION enables to both activate door and increase safety with only Active infrared, and it can improve safety at the threshold area by BLUEZONE function.
It’s also attractive for us that it’s possible to adjust the size of detection area easily to avoid unnecessary door’s open because you can make the detection area narrow by row.

To improve air conditioning efficiency

Customer: Shop owner (Enduser) Product: OPTEX AIR SLIDE

My shop is facing with a busy street. So the automatic door opened everytime when a person just walked through in front of the door, the unnecessary door openings reduce the air conditioning efficiency. Because AIR-SLIDE detects hands over the touchless plate attached to the door, it can avoid the unnecessary door openings. So I changed the sensor to AIR-SLIDE. It provides me energy saving of air conditioner and improve comfortableness of customers inside of the shop.

  • Active Infrared Sensor enables you to control the detection area because you can see where and how big the detection area is. (If you use OPTEX Infrared finder, you can see the detection area more exactly)
  • Active Infrared Sensor enables you to easily eliminate unnecessary detection area to prevent unnecessary door opening, since the detection area can be adjusted by row.
  • Active Infrared Sensor can be used for presence detection so it can detect such as a person who stops under a door. (OPTEX BLUEZONE technology by active infrared technology helps to prevent accidents from getting caught because it can detect a person who is standing right under the automatic door).
  • Microwave sensors reacts moving things having metal or moisture and malfunctions but Active Infrared doesn't.

In the Japanese Automatic door market where safety is highly prioritized, almost all automatic doors are installed with active infrared sensors.

BLUEZONE™ represents a distinctive technology that significantly enhances the safety of automatic doors. It detects the presence of individuals or objects at the threshold and prevents the door from closing until the detection area is cleared. This effectively minimizes the likelihood of accidents involving people or objects lingering in the door opening. This feature is essential for enhancing safety in environments utilizing automatic doors, ensuring user well-being, and adhering to safety regulations.
